Image Integrity in the Electronic Medium

Most image-processing systems treat the photograph as material to be corrected, enhanced, filtered, or moved toward an external ideal. Achroma reverses that relationship.

The image itself โ€” its measured frequency topology, optical geometry, and anisotropic structure โ€” is the authority. Every intervention is grounded in what the image has already revealed about itself.

This is neither an AI style transfer, nor is it a generic preset or a filter: It is an image-specific process of preserving and revealing photographic identity from within the source image. The method proceeds through a sequence of measured states:

01 Source

The unaltered photograph. This anchors the sequence and provides the measured visual field from which all later maps are derived.

02 Optical Object

The photograph is converted into an optical/topographic object. This map identifies the internal structure, tonal activity, and geometry available for transformation.

03 Confidence

A reliability field. It shows where the image contains sufficient structural evidence to support intervention, and where the process should remain cautious.

04 Noise/Structure

A separation field. It helps distinguish meaningful high-frequency structure from noise, grain, scan texture, compression, or unstable detail.

05 Edge Coherence

A structural boundary map. It locates coherent edges and contours that can support topographic emphasis.

06 Luma Gain Heatmap

The tonal intervention field. It shows where luminance is lifted, restrained, or redistributed.

07 Diffmap Heatmap

The visible change field. It records where the transformed image differs from the source and by what spatial pattern.

08 Gate Placement

The intervention permission map. It shows where the system allows or restrains topographic transformation.

09 Chroma Attenuation

The colour-moderation field. Colour is not simply removed; it is subordinated to measured luminance and structure.

10 Topographic Master

The resolved Achroma image. This is the principal output: a transformation generated from the image’s own measured topology.

11 Atomised Strength 1

An exploratory study of the same topographic field. It exposes the redistribution logic more visibly while remaining anchored to the source image.
